Melania Parzonka joins Łukasiewicz – the Strategy and Analysis Department at Łukasiewicz – ITECH

We are pleased to announce that Melania Parzonka joined the Łukasiewicz – ITECH team on 13 July 2026, taking up the position of Senior Specialist for European Security in the Strategy and Analysis Department.

Melania Parzonka specialises in European security and Eastern policy, with a particular focus on Ukraine and Moldova. She brings analytical and expert experience gained in institutions working on foreign policy, international security and research on Eastern Europe.

Before taking up her role at Łukasiewicz – ITECH, she worked as an analyst for EU foreign and security policy at the Polish Institute of International Affairs. Prior to that, she spent three years as Programme Coordinator for the Russia-Eurasia Programme and the Ukraine Forum at Chatham House, the London-based think tank. Melania also completed a Blue Book traineeship at

the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space. .

Melania holds an MSc in History of International Relations from the London School of Economics and a BSc in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from Goldsmiths, University of London. In 2025, she was a fellow at the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute (HURI) at Harvard University. She speaks English, Russian and Ukrainian.

At Łukasiewicz – ITECH, Melania will provide the team with expert knowledge in European security and Eastern policy. Her key responsibilities will include preparing reports, analyses, policy papers, commentaries and other expert materials to support decision-making processes. She will also contribute to the review of documents and analytical studies prepared by the Institute’s research centres, as well as monitor trends in European security policy and assess their relevance to the Institute’s work.
