We are pleased to announce that on May 15, Dr. Szymon Wiktorowicz joined the Łukasiewicz - ITECH team, taking the position of Area Leader - Head of the Center for Analysis and Development of Technology
Dr. Szymon Wiktorowicz is a chemist, start-up creator and expert in the field of innovation. He graduated from Jagiellonian University and holds a PhD from the University of Helsinki, where he graduated with honors. He specializes in polymer chemistry and nanomaterials.
He gained experience at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Max Planck Institute, University of Calgary and University of Helsinki, among others. For several years, he led strategic innovation programs at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, fostering collaboration between science, business and the public sector.
At Wiley-VCH, he was scientific editor of the prestigious journal Advanced Materials with IF = 30, as well as managing the Advanced Science News platform and developing video formats to promote authors and their scientific achievements.
His experience includes managing strategic innovation programs and R&D projects, developing European research programs, technology commercialization strategies and creating innovation ecosystems. In practice, he has also been involved in spin-off incubation and acceleration processes, working with the business and startup community on a daily basis. He is also a co-founder of ventures in the areas of deep-tech, science communication, culture and sustainability, such as Synbio Powerlabs, Labartory, Photino and FuMu – Museum of the Future.
At Łukasiewicz – ITECH, Dr. Szymon Wiktorowicz will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the Center for Analysis and Development of Technology, which carries out projects and analyses on such issues as public and technological policies, trend monitoring, the impact of new technologies on the economy and society, assessment of the risks associated with their implementation, technological and environmental foresight and the effectiveness of investments in innovative solutions.
A particularly important area of its activities will be comprehensive technology assessment, i.e. looking at new solutions not only from a technological perspective, but also from an economic, social, environmental and strategic perspective – in line with the interdisciplinary nature of our Institute’s activities.
