An expert seminar entitled “Poland–India: Economy, Science, Technology and International Relations” is currently taking place at the University of Warsaw. The event is co-organised by Łukasiewicz – ITECH, the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, and the Centre for International Relations, and is dedicated to developing recommendations for the Polish public administration.
The discussion focuses primarily on identifying the latest trends in trade and cross-sector cooperation between Warsaw and New Delhi, with particular emphasis on scientific and technological collaboration, as well as on defining the directions and mechanisms for deepening these ties. Only coordinated action by the Polish state, following the example of other European partners, can help mitigate the significant asymmetry in scale and capacity between the two countries, while also allowing Poland to make the most of the current momentum in EU–India relations and of this particular stage in India’s development – as the world’s most populous country. Building an ecosystem for research and technological cooperation that translates Poland’s key long-term strategic interests into concrete action, while taking advantage of the current political momentum, is within our reach.
The opening of the seminar was attended by representatives of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Vice-President prof. Jolanta Itrich-Drabarek as well as Prof. Rafał Łukasik, Director of the Department of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation, along with representatives of the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies and the University of Warsaw’s Centre for Europe. H.E. Neeta Bhushan, Ambassador of India to Poland, delivered the opening remarks.
Director Michał Matlak is taking part in the first plenary session, alongside Prof. Adam Burakowski – a non-resident fellow at Łukasiewicz – ITECH and former Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to India – Dr Wojciech Karczewski, Director of NAWA, and Michał Fijoł, President of LOT Polish Airlines.
