Agata Urbaniak joins Lukasiewicz – ITECH

We are pleased to announce that on April 13 Lukasiewicz – ITECH team was joined by PhD Sc. Eng. Agata Urbaniak, taking on the role of Area Leader – Head of the Energy Transformation Research Center.

Agata Urbaniak, PhD, is a doctor of technical sciences and a recognized expert in the field of energy transition. Her experience includes both scientific and research activities, as well as expert and management roles in key institutions of the energy sector in Poland. She has worked in research units and large industrial organizations, responsible for the implementation and supervision of R&D projects, strategic programs and initiatives supporting the energy transition.

A significant stage in her career was as Director of the Measurement and Research Laboratory Branch at PGNiG S.A. and then ORLEN S.A., where she oversaw R&D projects and developed areas related to hydrogen and biomethane, among others. She was also involved in research strategies, technology assessment and represented the organization in industry and government bodies, including the Hydrogen Accord at the Ministry of Climate and Environment and Hydrogen Europe.

In his new role, she is responsible for developing the research and analytical activities of the Lukasiewicz Energy Transformation Research Center – ITECH, managing the team and implementing projects on such issues as public policies, technology trends and energy sector development scenarios. Particular emphasis will be placed on analytical support in the area of technologies, taking into account their social aspects, which is an important part of the Institute’s activities.

conducts analyses of the development and implementation of innovative, low-carbon technologies energy. We are engaged in the evaluation of energy transition processes, which involve the transition from traditional energy sources to renewable ones, taking into account their technical, social, economic and environmental aspects.  We work on energy efficiency and the administrative and legal environment of the energy sector. Our goal is to support national energy and climate policy through innovative solutions and recommendations for the public sector and industry.
