Time of key decisions and summaries
December 2025 was a special period for the Polish Basalt Technologies Cluster, combining intensive organizational activities with a substantive summary of the whole year’s work. This is the time when we set the directions of development for the coming years, building on the solid foundations developed in recent months.
Strong organization and dynamic growth
The past year has confirmed the growing stature of the Cluster. We are proud to report the dynamic growth of our community:
- a 23% increase, with 13 new specialized members joining in 2025;
- 55 Partners – Currently, the Cluster brings together 55 entities, including industry leaders, innovative startups and prestigious research institutes.
A year under the sign of R&D innovation
Our 2025 report documents a wide range of ongoing activities, from agriculture to space technology. We focused on:
- Commercialization of science: We actively implement the research results of the institutes of the Lukasiewicz Research Network directly into industry;
- green transformation: We are initiating Closed-loop Economy (GOZ) projects, using industrial by-products to create modern fertilizers and building materials;
- new technologies: We are conducting advanced testing of the use of basalt in the high-tech, construction and security solutions sectors.
Thank you to all Members and Partners for working together to build a future based on Polish basalt technologies. We look forward to following our activities in the coming 2026!
Agreement with Zielona Gora Business Integrator (ZIBI)
A cooperation agreement with the Zielona Gora Business Integrator will be formally signed in the near future . The document will initiate lasting cooperation aimed at supporting innovation and commercialization of basalt technologies at the regional level.
This is an important partnership to strengthen the position of the PTB Cluster in the Lubuskie market and expand the business network for its members in the Zielona Gora region. ZIBI’s role will be crucial in facilitating access to the local business community and business environment institutions.
Cooperation with KGHM S.A.
Our Cluster is actively engaged in undertaking strategic R&D cooperation with KGHM S.A.., focusing on innovative projects.
We plan to take an active part in a key project on the innovative use of flotation wastes from, among others, Iron Bridge Lake. The goal of the project is to transform these materials into valuable resources in three main areas:
- Recovery of secondary raw materials – conducting research to recover valuable metals and non-metals from waste deposits.
- Construction application -developing technology to convert mineral fractions into full-value and durable building materials.
- Agricultural solutions – the creation of technologies that enable the use of processed waste as components for the production of mineral fertilizers.
The basis of the innovation is the solutions protected by patents Nos. 232492 and 238072. We expect that the research work may lead to improvements in the protected technologies and, consequently, to the filing of additional patent applications.
The Polish Basalt Technologies Cluster is currently in the process of finalizing the formal approvals necessary to begin work.
Cluster Benchmarking Report 2024 edition
We would like to inform you that the report on the seventh edition of the study “Cluster Benchmarking in Poland edition 2024”, summarized during the PARP conference, is now available for viewing. The publication contains a detailed analysis of the condition of Polish clusters, their innovative potential and their role in digital and green transformation.
We encourage all members of the PTB Cluster to read the materials, which are a valuable source of knowledge about the position of our organization against national leaders and the directions of development of European innovation ecosystems.
FENG recruitment schedule updated
We would like to inform you that an updated schedule of calls for proposals has been published on the official portal of the European Funds for a Modern Economy (FENG) program.
The document is a key planning tool for entrepreneurs and institutions, setting the timeframe for competitions supporting innovation, digitization and R&D projects in Poland. The new schedule takes into account the dates of calls scheduled for 2025-2026.
We encourage all members of the PTB Cluster to keep abreast of planned deadlines so that projects and competition documentation can be properly prepared.
Building enterprise resilience in the context of digital security in clusters
We are pleased to announce our participation in a training organized by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP) on building cyber resilience within cluster structures.
In an era of increasing digitization and new regulatory challenges, digital security is becoming the foundation of stability for any modern company. As a PTB Cluster, we strive to provide you not only with material innovations, but also with the knowledge to safely grow your business.
Why is this event important?
The meeting, led by experts from the #CyberMadeInPoland cluster, provided concrete tools to help us work together:
- Identify digital risks in supply chains.
- Implement data and process protection procedures.
- Build competitive advantage through certified digital resilience.
Take advantage of knowledge – Practical Handbook
A key result of the experts’ work is a comprehensive manual to support clusters in the provision of cyber security services. This document contains ready-made methodologies and tools that can be directly used in your organizations.
We encourage you to review these materials so that together we can raise safety standards in our ecosystem.
Cluster at Entrepreneurship Forum 2025
On December 10, representatives of the Cluster participated in the Entrepreneurship Forum – one of the most important economic events of the year, bringing together innovation leaders, business visionaries and technology sector experts.
The event, became a space to exchange experiences at the interface of business, science and public administration. The Cluster’s participation in the Forum allowed us to gain unique knowledge, which we intend to use in the further development of our organization.
Key highlights and inspiration:
The panel discussions covered topics of strategic importance for the future of the PTB Cluster:
- Artificial Intelligence in Practice: Maria Parysz (Elephant.AI) and experts from Google and ElevenLabs presented specific scenarios for using AI in optimizing business and creative processes.
- Vision and scaling: The meeting opened with a conversation with Rafał Brzoska (InPost) and Krzysztof Gulda (PARP), focused on building the global competitiveness of Polish companies.
- Digital Sovereignty: A panel featuring Artur Kurasinski, among others, addressed the challenges of choosing digitization and cloud tools in the SME sector.
- Competencies of Tomorrow: Experts from the University of Lodz and CampusAI pointed out how to deal with the competency gap in the era of rapid technological development.
Why is this important for members of the Polish Basalt Technologies Cluster?
Conclusions from the Forum confirm that the direction taken by the PTB Cluster – combining modern material technologies (basalt) with digital transformation – is in line with the strongest market trends.
The knowledge gained during the lectures about the Bielik.AI model or SunRoof solutions, among others, inspires us to even more actively support your companies in the area of innovation implementation and talent acquisition.
Work is underway to implement the recommendations of the Cluster Council. In particular, a model for raising funds by the Cluster is being prepared. The MODEL NAMED: “Coordination / implementation service for the principal” will consist of services:
- Needs analysis and unit customization.
- Verification of the readiness of the institution to carry out the task.
- Organizational support of the contact.
- Supervision of proper communication and implementation.
- Formal and substantive counseling (if applicable).
The implementation of the model is expected to allow the cluster to legally and transparently collect fees for bringing entities together, without violating public finance and procurement regulations. It will also allow the cluster to continue not collecting membership fees.
Preliminary work is also underway on the second element recommended by the Cluster Council, i.e. tuning the cluster’s strategy to the increasing monetization opportunities associated with the established and rapidly growing business ecosystem of the Polish Basalt Technologies Cluster. As recommended by the Cluster Council, this is to be a practical and effective implementation of widening of business ecosystem borders.
ü Personnel changes in the Supporting Entity of the Cluster Coordinator Lukasiewicz Institute – ITECH
Cluster Manager Dr. Artur Kwasniewski, who is also a member of the Cluster Council, retired from his alma mater, Lukasiewicz Institute – ITECH, in September this year.
