Two weeks have passed since the “Łukasiewicz – ITECH Annual Conference 2026: Security for Prosperity”, which brought together representatives of public administration, academia, business and security experts in Warsaw on 14 October. We revisit the event’s key takeaways through an article published by PAP MediaRoom.

The article, entitled “Security and Innovation as New Drivers of Poland’s Growth”, highlights the key takeaways from the conference presentations and panel discussions. Experts emphasised that increased defence spending should go hand in hand with investment in research and development, the advancement of domestic technologies and the strengthening of Poland’s industrial capabilities.

The article features remarks from Hubert Cichocki, President of the Łukasiewicz Centre; Michał Matlak, Director of Łukasiewicz – ITECH; Katarzyna Smyk, Head of the European Commission Representation in Poland; Salome Zourabichvili, former President of Georgia; and prof. Marcin Piątkowski . The discussions also explored Ukraine’s experiences, the development of dual-use technologies and the need to accelerate the adoption of innovations in the defence sector.

Conference participants emphasised that security and economic competitiveness are now closely intertwined. However, harnessing the potential of growing defence investment requires a long-term strategy, effective European cooperation and stronger domestic technological capabilities.
