How to Write Winning Proposals: BPK and Łukasiewicz – ITECH Experts Strengthen Their Horizon Europe Skills

Reading time: 3min

On 8 and 9 July 2026, experts from the Industry Contact Points and representatives of Łukasiewicz – ITECH, which coordinates the BPK network, took part in a specialist training course on preparing Horizon Europe proposals. The participants are involved in securing European funding for research and development projects.

A Shared Goal: Better Support for Businesses and Researchers

The training was designed to deepen participants’ expertise, encourage the exchange of practical experience and familiarise them with leading European approaches to developing Horizon Europe proposals. The knowledge and skills gained will enable them to provide even more effective support to businesses, start-ups, research institutes and universities seeking European funding.

Horizon Europe is the European Union’s flagship programme for funding research and innovation. A strong proposal requires more than an innovative idea: success also depends on building international partnerships and creating robust consortia that bring together complementary expertise from organisations across Europe.

From Idea to Funding: The Full Project Development Process

The training was delivered by experts from FundingBox, an organisation specialising in supporting applicants seeking European funding and in building international innovation ecosystems.

The programme covered every stage of developing a strong Horizon Europe proposal, including:

  • interpreting programme requirements and evaluation criteria;
  • preparing competitive project applications;
  • building and managing international consortia;
  • identifying and securing the right project partners;
  • assessing potential partners in terms of expertise and added value;
  • positioning an organisation as an attractive partner in European projects;
  • planning project budgets and developing the underlying business case;
  • addressing the practical aspects of managing EU-funded projects.

Sharing Experience and Proven Approaches

A key part of the event was the exchange of knowledge among experts with extensive experience in delivering international projects and securing funding through European programmes. The workshop format created space to discuss real-world challenges, examine practical case studies and share proven approaches and actionable advice.

This kind of collaboration helps the Industry Contact Points continuously improve the quality of their support and respond more effectively to the needs of businesses and research organisations seeking to participate in Horizon Europe.
