How to ensure that innovation does not stop at the stage of a good idea, research project or one-time funding, but realistically strengthens the economy?

This was discussed by Dr. Kamil Bromski, an expert from the Center for Analysis and Technology Development, who represented Łukasiewicz – ITECH at the conference “Partnership for Innovation: science and business.” The event took place on May 22, 2026 at the Podkarpackie Innovation Center in Rzeszow.

The presentation entitled. “Evaluation of good practices of innovation financing in Poland with the perspective of development until 2035” was the starting point for a broader reflection on how to design a system of innovation support to meet the real needs of science, business and public administration.

As a think tank, Łukasiewicz – ITECH focuses its activities on the analysis and development of technology, innovation policy and the evaluation of mechanisms supporting the commercialization of new solutions. From this perspective, it is particularly important not only to ask how much money we allocate to innovation, but most importantly – what effects are created thanks to it.

Dr. Bromski noted that an effective financing system should strengthen the transition from research to the market, support the sustainability of commercialization outcomes and build the economy’s capacity to absorb new technologies. In his presentation, he also stressed the importance of the “smart money” model, in which capital is combined with mentoring, business advice, legal and IP support, networking and internationalization.

Another important theme of the speech was the need to better support breakthrough technologies and the pre-implementation phase – that is, the point at which scientific potential must be translated into a solution ready for scaling and deployment.

Because a well-designed innovation policy should not just answer the question “how much was spent?”. It should show what lasting technological and economic value public support has generated.
