Szymon Kasprzyk

I AM an EXPERT in the field of construction chemistry and fire safety. Together with the Team, we carry out tasks on a daily basis in the field of fire testing of building materials and testing of insulation systems and adhesives for ceramic cladding. We work on projects related to insulation systems and their components, thermal insulation materials, tile adhesives, waterproofing, polyurethane foams, adhesives, plasters and gypsum adhesives, among others.

WE WILL WORK together in research projects carried out at the Center for Fire Safety and Acoustics. Working with me, you will have a unique opportunity to learn about fire and building materials from a whole new perspective. I will help you broaden your perspective and support you in developing your interests, competencies and research skills.

URSZULA PAWŁOWSKA

WE ARE EXPERTS in the field of rubber and elastomers. In our team, on a daily basis we carry out tasks concerning their obtaining, properties, processing, application and recycling. In my research work, I mainly deal with rubber and elastomers with special properties, including bactericidal and fungicidal properties.

EWA LANGER

Name of the institute: Lukasiewicz – Institute of Polymer Materials.

Research area: development of formulations of modern varnish products, testing of properties of varnish products and coatings obtained from them, synthesis of new organic compounds for use as additives to varnish products or polymer plastics

I AM an EXPERT in developing formulations of new paint products and implementing them into production. On a daily basis, I carry out research projects, including those in international consortia, as well as commercial orders in the broad field of paint products and polymer plastics.

WE WILL JOINTLY develop formulations of paint products as well as synthesize new chemical compounds that can find applications in paints and polymers

Jacek Hamerlinski

Name of the institute: Lukasiewicz – Institute of Polymer Materials.

Research area: teigraphic technologies and materials printing (in particular, functional inks and varnishes and materials for printed electronics)

I AM AN EXPERT in the field of solutions for modern printing and production of printed packaging, including innovative technologies allowing to make prints with non-standard physical characteristics physical characteristics, as well as treating printing as a variation of incremental production technique.

TOGETHER WE WILL analyze the needs of entrepreneurs regarding innovative printing technologies, study the properties of of various materials used in printing, and select the appropriate solution to the problem posed.

I WILL HELP YOU gain knowledge about the applications of printing in the production of of various products, learn about unusual solutions useful for entrepreneurs, and also get rid of the superstition that printing is a “black art” whose time has passed.

Volodymyr Krasinskyi

Name of the institute: Lukasiewicz – Institute of Polymer Materials.

Research area: materials engineering and technology, especially engineering of polymeric materials (including biodegradable and nanocomposites) and issues related to recycling and management of polymeric materials that are difficult to dispose of

I AM an EXPERT in the areas of: development and processing of polymer composites (including nanocomposites and biodegradable materials); analysis and characterization of the microstructure of polymer materials; development of methods for managing difficult to recycle polymer waste.

Dr. Eng. Joanna Badura

Name of the institute: Lukasiewicz Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security.

Research area: machine learning, data analysis, Data Science

I AM an EXPERT in the field of Data Science. On a day-to-day basis, I work at the Computer Science Research Center, where I analyze data from various fields – currently mainly from the medical field. I use machine learning techniques to be able to answer research hypotheses, understand the data in depth and discover hidden relationships in the data.

In research and development projects carried out in our team, we pay special attention to interpretable methods such as rule induction – that is, techniques that create human-understandable models. This makes solutions based on artificial intelligence more transparent and inspires more trust.

WE WILL COMPLETELY pursue interesting topics in the area of machine learning and data analysis. We will write code, create predictive models, and visualize test results.

I WILL HELP YOU explore the field of Data Science and see what analyzing real data sets looks like in practice. You’ll see how it can become a tool for asking important questions and finding answers that matter.

Dr. Luke Wawrowski

Research area: applications of machine learning algorithms

I AM an EXPERT in the implementation of artificial intelligence methods in cyber threat detection systems. On a daily basis, I perform tasks related to the management of research projects, design of information systems and analysis of data from various sources.

I work at the intersection of computer science, mathematics and security – where technology helps protect people and organizations from real threats that are often not visible at first glance. My work uses methods of machine learning, statistical analysis and algorithmics – but equally important is the ability to ask the right questions and look for unusual solutions.

As an academic, I also have the privilege of sharing my knowledge and experience with students – both in class and through collaborative research projects or theses. I myself have traveled the path from a passion for technology, through my field studies and first research projects, to creating teams and systems that impact digital security nationwide.

WE WILL CREATE artificial intelligence systems related to cyber security. We will engage in the creation of algorithms capable of detecting threats, analyzing complex data, and will create solutions with real applications in the protection of information systems.

I am working on projects related to the development of a state-of-the-art anatomically matched ballistic cartridge using 3D printing and scanning.

Artur Rudowicz

Research area:materialsengineering, corrosion protection, anodizing

I AM an EXPERT specializing in the research and development of technologies for the protection and modification of metal surfaces, particularly through anodizing and sol-gel processes. I work on anti-corrosion layers and materials for renewable energy, including dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs).

WE WILL JOINTLY analyze material degradation phenomena, conduct electrochemical measurements, prepare and evaluate protective layers, and learn how to work in a materials laboratory.

Adam Kondej

Research area: nondestructive testing of materials, materials engineering, rapid prototyping

I AM an EXPERT in the field of non-destructive testing (NDT) by eddy current method. We perform tests in our laboratory, as well as in the field. As part of our Research Group’s activities, we design and manufacture proprietary equipment and inspection and measurement systems for non-invasive evaluation of engineering materials. In our work, we use rapid prototyping tools such as 3D modeling, 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies.

Sylwester Jończyk

Research area: heat and thermo-chemical treatment of ferrous alloys

I AM an EXPERT dealing with heat and thermo-chemical treatment equipment and the implementation of technological processes in the field of heat treatment of ferrous alloys.

WE WILL JOINTLY perform technological processes on metallic materials, which will involve appropriate heating, quenching and cooling to set temperatures and at set rates to give them the appropriate mechanical properties. We will learn what it is to harden the surface of iron alloys by thermo-chemical treatment with and without hardening by diffusion saturation of the surface zones of the material with elements.

I W ILL HELP YOU understand and master some technological processes in the field of heat treatment of ferrous alloys. I will introduce from the practical side the operation of some heat treatment equipment.

Dominik Kukla

We will also see how the characteristics of metals and alloys change under the influence of temperature, stress and environment, and how to identify and describe these changes using various testing techniques, especially non-destructive. We will also learn about the different types of defects that develop in structural materials under operating conditions and techniques for their detection.

Dr. Michal Borisiewicz

Name of the institute: Lukasiewicz – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics.

Research area: materials engineering, thin films, semiconductors, transparent conducting oxides, nanostructures, porous materials, nanoparticles, energy storage, volatile substance sensors, semiconductor devices, photocatalysis

I AM AN EXPERT

I am a physicist by training, with a PhD and MD in electronics and after a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT’s chemistry department – so I am necessarily interested in interdisciplinary research. I am familiar with a great many experimental techniques and have a broad overview of the fields in which I work. I specialize in the fabrication of inorganic materials by vacuum deposition techniques, and in the fabrication of nanostructures by vacuum and chemical techniques. I have been a mentor to a first-year Olympian for several years.

WE WILL JOINTLY develop research on electrochemical and field effect-based sensors using new semiconductor oxide materials.

Materials development will take place using physical layer deposition techniques. We will conduct analysis of the chemical, electrochemical and structural properties of the developed materials and also analyze the relationship between the parameters of the manufacturing processes, the properties of the materials and the properties of the energy stores using them.

I WILL HELP YOU discover a job in a technology laboratory where we develop instruments for medical diagnostics, bio-chemical processes or environmental protection, and conduct materials research through the wide range of techniques available for their characterization.

PhD Sc. Eng. Joanna Jankowska-Sliwinska

Name of the institute: Lukasiewicz – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics.

Research area: materials research, electrochemical sensors, field-effect transistors, biomedical engineering

I AM AN EXPERT

I work in the GaN Technology, Sensors, Thin Film Structures and Porous Materials Research Group, where I develop electrochemical sensors and field-effect transistors for applications in medical diagnostics, chemical industry, environmental protection, as well as surface modifications of electrically conductive materials for bioreceptor attachment. I also specialize in characterization of materials using atomic force microscopy in the context of their surface topography as well as electrical properties.

My work uses selective and specific interactions of relevant receptors with compounds used in medical diagnostics. Thanks to these interactions, it is possible to detect sought-after substances even in complex samples. The mechanisms of interaction I have learned are the basis in the design of new biosensors I am developing.

In the research and development projects carried out in our team, we pay special attention to the applicability of the work we carry out.

I work scientifically in the field of chemistry and technology of plastics and composites, including projects dedicated to circular economy and recycling. I perform low- and high-voltage electrical testing of insulators and power products. I am a certified expert in the evaluation of paint coatings as corrosion protection.

We will JOIN together to discover new issues, develop innovative materials and study their properties. We will engage in microscopic studies and technical and 3D drawing.
